Occupational Therapy services for adults across south-west WA
Terrie Simpson
Occupational Therapist
I qualified as an Occupational Therapist in the UK where I worked for several years before migrating to Australia in 2007. Prior to setting up Busselton OT, I worked for the Department of Health, aged care organisations, the MND Association WA, various universities and North Metro TAFE. I am passionate about enabling people to live the best life possible.
I am registered with AHPRA (Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency), registration number OCC0001750628. I am also registered with the HCPC (Health and Care Professions Council) in the UK. I am a member of RCOT (Royal College of Occupational Therapists) and WFOT (World Federation of Occupational Therapists).
NDIS Services
I am able to provide services to NDIS clients who are plan or self-managed. This includes completing functional capacity assessments, assistive technology applications, pre-plan assessments, complex home modifications assessments and ongoing reports.
Aged Care Services
I am able to work with your Aged Care provider to deliver Occupational Therapy services in relation to equipment provision and therapeutic supports.
Privately Funded OT
If you are awaiting funding or wish to pay for OT services privately, I can tailor services to meet your requirements.
Services Provided
Motor Neurone Disease
I have worked with people with MND throughout my career and recently worked for the MND Association of WA with whom I continue to have a close working relationship. I therefore have a good understanding of this condition and the supports required to live the best life possible.
Dementia
A diagnosis of dementia can be frightening and confusing for the person and their loved ones. By focusing on the individual's strengths and remaining abilities, we can enable them to continue to gain enjoyment in their life. I use the HDS-R assessment tool to provide a basis for person-centred interventions.
Falls and Home Safety
A number of conditions and general ageing can cause a person to experience falls and have concerns about safety around the home. A comprehensive assessment of the risk factors can assist in reducing falls and injuries. I was involved in the development of a UK-wide falls pathway.
Training and Education
As an experienced trainer and educator, with a Masters in Health Professional Education from UWA, I am able to offer tailored training to staff and carers. Topics can include manual handling, WHS, MND, dementia, communication. Training can be delivered face-to-face or online.
